10b was launched by Corinna D’Schoto as a self-funded project in 2022. During this inaugural year, it operated via volunteered time & labor split between Corinna D’Schoto and Kate Wildman.
All participating artists in the 2022 season were self-funded and fully responsible for labor in the fruition of their projects. We were also fortunate to receive material & supplies donations from Lani Asuncion, Pat McNabb, Di Walsh and C.A. Stigliano.
For the 2023 season, we received a generous fund though the Charlotte R. Kramer Foundation, while on the edge of cancelling the project due to lack of financial resources. This funding is quite literally keeping the lights on and the roof over the head of 10b, allowing the project to live on! Though the space still runs on volunteered time & labor, we are now able to provide a small stipend for artists’ events and to modestly invest in outreach for future funding opportunities.
We believe in the 10b mission and in its importance in the Boston arts community and climate. During the endless rent hikes in Boston during the last dozen+ years, it has become all but impossible for artists here to converse about artists and community without mentioning the costs and conditions of living, working and exhibiting spaces in the city.
So far, we as founders of 10b are graduates of MassArt who ourselves craved more accessible spaces and opportunity for community for years. We are rising to the challenge of delivering an artist-run space to foster some stable sense of community — a space which doesn’t charge artists, turn any profit of their labors, nor encourage traditionally marketable working outcomes. Ideally, more like-minded project spaces will crop up to create a larger community. We are determined to keep growing!
Please donate to this project if you can. Donations help ensure the future of 10b projects! Volunteered time and labor only go so far on their own, and unfortunately do not pay the rent of the project space.
ONLY donations through Fractured Atlas receive tax-deduction forms!
For donations not requiring tax-deduction. We greatly appreciate direct donations, as 100% of the proceeds go directly to 10b.
